Notes For Parents
Please make sure your child is completing their homework each night. Homework sheets go home on Mondays for the entire week. Please keep those homework sheets in a safe place! Homework counts as 10% of their grade.
Goals for the Year
My goals for this year for our class are as follows:
1. Prepare EVERY student for 2nd Grade!
2. Teach Students to add and subtract within 20.
3. Engage students in activites that enhance what they are learning!
4. Improve every childs reading abilites.
5. Create a love for science and social studies within each student.
6. Be the BEST teacher I can be!
About the Teacher
Hello, My name is Jacqueline Allman but my nickname is Jacky. I am excited to be teaching at the Academy of Dover this year! This is my first year teaching and I look forward to teaching for many years to come.
I have a Bachelor's degree from Wesley College In Elementary Education and I am currently working on obtaining my Master's Degree from WIlmington University which focuses on Instruction in Teaching and Learning. I am certified as a K-6 Elementary School Teacher and in Special Education in grades K-12.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, watching movies, being with my family and taking walks with my beagle puppy named Lucille.

Upcoming Tests, Quizzes and Projects
We run Language Arts on a 6 day rotation. The 6th day is always our weekly test and spelling test. You will know when these tests are coming up as they are posted on the weekly homework sheets.
Quizzes in math, science and social studies are given throughout the marking period to make sure students are understanding the content given.

Classroom Officers
In our classroom, we currently have six different jobs. We switch jobs each Monday. The jobs we have in our classroom are listed below.
Door Holder-Hold and close door, Turn on/off lights
Line Leader- Leads the line around the school
Pencils-Collects Pencils at the end of each day
Names-Moves each students name back to the "absent" side of the sign in poster by the door.
Janitor-Collects trash from students when needed (Paper scraps, etc.)
Teacher Helper- Assits the teacher when needed.
Class News
WHAT WE ARE LEARNING!
Math- Adding within 100!
Science- We are exploring Organisms. This includes plants and animals :)
Social Studies- We are continuning to learn about the world around us.
Language Arts- Each week we study the following:
10 Spelling words with common sounds/spelling patterns
Sight Words
Blending (Putting sounds together) words with simiar sounds
Reading Skills- A new skill is introduced each week
A new story

A really good site that is available to parents and students is http://thinkfinity.org
Studetnts are working on www.ixl.com IXL is a website where students can practice their math skills!
Classroom Rules and Expectations
BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE, BE RESPECTFUL
Our classroom rules are as follows:
Respect fellow classmates
Keep hands, feet, objects, and unkind words to yourself.
Follow directions of all your teachers.
Come to class prepared with all supplies and homework complete.
Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
Listen quietly while others are speaking.
Leave your seat only when permission is given.
Be quiet in lines, hallways, and restrooms.
Always walk in the building.
Clean up your work area.
Always do your best!
